Global Payment Gateway Modernization: High-Throughput EKS Architecture
How Magnetic migrated a legacy payment engine to Go microservices on AWS EKS, reducing payment processing latency from 1.2s to sub-150ms with 99.99% system uptime and PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance.

Project Summary
PaySecure International processes cross-border merchant transactions across 30 countries. Their legacy PHP monolith was suffering from 1.2-second transaction bottlenecks and frequent holiday season database lockups.
Technical Execution
Magnetic's backend architecture team migrated the payment engine into high-concurrency Go microservices backed by Redis Enterprise caching and Apache Kafka event streams:
- Go Microservices on EKS: Compiled low-footprint services executing checkout transactions in sub-150ms.
- PCI-DSS Tokenization Vault: Encrypted cardholder data (CHD) inside dedicated AWS KMS vaults with mutual TLS.
- Auto-Scaling Kubernetes: Prometheus-driven HPA scaling pod instances from 5 to 50 within seconds of peak traffic spikes.
"Magnetic's backend engineers transformed our payment infrastructure. We handled 4x our peak holiday volume without a single dropped transaction."
